Pictorial History of Our Savior's Lutheran Church
| In the back
room of Hanson's Photography Studio on May 15, 1915, a new congregation
was born. Pastor A. P. Lea, whose pastorate was in Chippewa Falls,
was present. Only a small number of people were there and progress
was slow at first. But a second meeting was held in the early fall
and at that time a subscription was started for the church building.
Plans were drawn for the building in 1917, but the country was in a war
and the actual building work had to be postponed.
A humble beginning? Perhaps it was. The congregation was growing in another area, however. The Sunday School had been organized February 11, 1915, with 23 youngsters enrolled. Classes were held in the M. T. Hanson home for several years and continued to meet in cold weather even after space was provided in the new church basement.
